Prospering In Uncertain Times

Tips for taking your anxieties and uncertainties and replacing them with positive expectations and new successes

Terrorism, economic uncertainty, plus dramatic changes in technology and business are causing many people to feel concerned -- even fearful -- about their future.  And while it is always easy to see the threat that such circumstances create, it is also important to remember that you have a choice about how you will respond. You can’t change the past.  You can influence your future and the futures of others.

To cope with uncertain, frightening times use your thoughts, energy, and creativity to recommit to the ideas you stand for.

Refuse to give fear power over you. Fear can paralyze.  Instead, celebrate the freedom to pursue your dreams.  Focus on the wonderful possibilities life offers.

Infect others with your positive, can-do attitude. Dust off your goals and strive to accomplish them. Reassure others with your optimism.

Seek purpose in your work.  Recognize that your business allows you to assist others in achieving their dreams.  There is great satisfaction in knowing that you have helped others make good decisions relating to homeownership.  The service you provide is important – it has an impact on others’ lifestyles and their finances. Recommit to doing the important work you’ve chosen and do it well.  Then...Draw satisfaction from a job well done.

Create value in your relationships. Focus on how you can add value for your customers.  Listen carefully. Understand their needs.  Don’t focus on making the sale, focus on adding value. What can you do for them that they can’t do or don’t want to do for themselves in their real estate transactions?  The sale will follow.

Recognize the importance of staying connected with others. Don’t let relationships waste away. Now is the time to follow-up with past clients and customers to see how they are doing and to say, “Thanks again for having faith in me and trusting me with your business.”  Take time to thank your vendors, co-broking agents, your office team, your supportive family.  Draw strength and energy from your positive relationships.

Tough times force us to focus on what’s really important. Hug those you care about.
