Forking

Definition:

Forking refers to the notion that a project may evolve in multiple directions as multiple people have different goals for the project. This may occur under the open source development model. It is highly discouraged, as it does not maximize the use of resources. A good leader of an open source project will develop a process to try to avoid this situation.
